Tulbagh will celebrate its 143rd consecutive show from 28 September to 1 October 2016 – the oldest agricultural event in the country.
As always, the main focus will be the horse championships for Friesians, Saddlebreds and Welsh Ponies. Having worked all year towards this event, breeders and trainers from all over the country congregate in Tulbagh to compete against one another. This is a spectacle not to be missed – what a pleasure to indulge in strawberries and ice cream on the grandstand, watching these splendidly groomed quadrupeds strutting their stuff against the backdrop of the magnificent Witzenberg mountains!
The poultry and fancy pigeon championships are equally fascinating – who would believe the variety of birds of every feather? The latest in agricultural technology will also be on display.
Well-known artists Waldo Lotz and Burger Le Roux will be performing in the evenings and the Show will be featuring exhibitions by the SAPS, Navy and Defence Force. With the Lions making pancakes to beat the band for charity and stalls selling local produce, there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
Do come and enjoy an authentic country experience at the Tulbagh Show in our amazing Valley of Abundance.
